La Sainte-Catherine

La Sainte-Catherine : A major Montréal street being revitalized

Beginning in 2021, Rue Sainte-Catherine will offer you a brand-new experience in downtown Montréal!

The sidewalks of the future Rue Sainte-Catherine, with only one lane of traffic running between them, will be widened to provide more comfort for pedestrians. This major street will become a connector between the public spaces around it, including the square in front of St. James United Church, Square Phillips, Avenue McGill College, Square Dorchester and the area around the Guy-Concordia station.

As well, existing green spaces will be consolidated to increase plant cover and create cool spaces for Montrealers during the heat of summer. This major street, which can be made pedestrian-only depending on the time of year and events, will become one of Montréal's star sites!

Construction resumes in February 2019

After several months of preparatory work on the underground electricity network and sewer line rehabilitation, construction on the Rue Sainte-Catherine project will resume the week of February 11.
