Voting Results

We are pleased to announce the results of the voting for LaSalle's first participatory budget, which was held June 8-30, 2021. There were 649 of you who voted for your favourite projects. Out of that number, 609 valid votes made it possible to prioritize the projects considered the most beneficial for the community.

We thank you for your participation!

Three projects will be carried out from among those that received the most votes from residents:

1. Fruits within Reach (47.6% approval)

Planting fruit bushes to make them accessible and available to residents

  • Soil characterization
  • Purchase, planting, maintenance and irrigation of shrubs
  • Benches
  • Descriptive poster featuring the species

Two locations are being considered: Aqueduct park, in the right-of-way of the lines that Hydro-Quebec is dismantling, or at Borough Hall park (Airlie/Dupras/LaSalle block)

Budget: $70,320

2. Gardening Together (39.4% approval)

Creating an above-ground community garden

  • Urban agriculture planters
  • Soil characterization and work to provide access to water
  • Installation of containers

Location considered: at Parc des Rapides, near Maison des Chevaliers de Colomb, 7710 boulevard LaSalle

Budget: $40,320

3. Outdoor Ping-Pong (38.8% approval)

Installing 3 ping-pong tables in the parks

  • Ping-pong tables (3)
  • Concrete slabs
  • Planting greenery

Two locations considered: Parc Lefebvre (2 tables) and Parc Hayward (1 table)

Budget: $22,200

Beach Volleyball, the 2nd project with the most votes, will not be able to be carried out, as it has been estimated at $101,400. The project with the most votes—Fruits within Reach--is estimated at $70,320, so the Beach Volleyball project can't be carried out within the $150,000 budget. In accordance with the Participatory budget charter, the 3rd and 4th ranked projects will be carried out.

These projects total $132,840 out of an overall available budget of $150,000. The remaining amount will be used to absorb any cost adjustments that may be necessary when carrying out the three projects. This amount may also be used to enhance the projects.

The implementation of the projects by the borough and their follow-up, once carried out, will be spread out over a period of two years.

We thank you for your participation!
